Silver Lining Recovery Counseling
There is nothing wrong with you. You are not a “dysfunctional” mess in need of repair, but a heroic soul on an intense journey of discovery with the capacity to transform your experience.
Hi, I’m Kellie!
I’ll bet we have a lot in common. You see, before I became a drug and alcohol counselor, I had a problem with alcohol and then food. I spent nearly 20 years of my life thinking I was just like all my friends - a social drinker, married with children, a mortgage, pets and all the responsibilities of that lifestyle. I realized in my early 40s that my daily drinking had become a habit that was hard to break. During the next 10 years I tried many times to quit. I’d string 3 days together, 7 days, 10 days, but I would always go back. I knew I was a strong, determined person and had accomplished many things. I believed my addiction should be easy to walk away from and was baffled at why I couldn’t kick this unwanted habit. After I was able to successfully cut alcohol out of my life I noticed I was turning to food to soothe, comfort and regulate my emotions. This time I was equipped with the skills and tools that had help me recover from alcohol and I successfully applied them to my obsession around food. Your habit may not be alcohol or food, you could fill in the blank here with any number of ways we distract ourselves (technology, shopping, gambling….and so on). You see, I believe an addiction is developed from core needs that are not being met and we have found something that allows us to cope with our day-to-day lives. Click on the “Reach out to Me” button and let’s work together to help you break free from whatever has you hooked and is keeping you from living your best life.
My hope is that when we meet, you will feel like you are meeting with a trusted friend. Like you, I have walked the path of addiction, I can empathize with what you are going through. Because of the stigma of addiction, admitting we need to change takes an act of extreme bravery. You should be very proud of yourself for taking this step and I will be there to support you at each milestone you reach.
